Exploring the Sandpit

Today is a very special day for Chad and me. It is the date that Clayton was originally suppose to enter the world. I can remember back to one year ago today how excited we were to welcome our little baby. We didn't truly understand then how wonderful and full our life would be one year later. In just 6 short days our little bundle of joy will be enjoying his 1st birthday. It is hard to believe that we are about to enter the exciting toddler stage!

In other news, today we went to Jake's 10th birthday party. It was at his house and around 7 4th grade boys joined in on the festivities. It was fun.

Afterwards, Chad dropped me off at a local regional park to workout (I'm finishing my 2nd week of an 8 week 5K training). Clayton was napping so he took Tilley home and then came back with Clayton to explore the sandpit. It is huge! It's also really nice because a lot of toys have been left so there is plenty for the kiddos to do. Clayton had so much fun!! He is such a bundle of energy these days and the sandpit was the perfect destination to release some of his wiggles. He was very interested in all of the other kids. We had this one little girl come over to play with us. I estimate that she was between the ages of 4 and 5 and very talkative. At one point she started singing a song off of her Powder Puff DVD and Clayton (who was sitting about 12 inches away from her) stopped playing and stared at her. Then he started singing in his cute little way! It was priceless. When it was time to leave, Clayton threw the biggest fit of his short little life. We tried to distract him on the way back to the car with a visit to the swings. It didn't work. He didn't get over his frustration (crying, flailing, pushing me away) for about 10 minutes. He was going off of very little sleep and it was a little after 5 so it was expected.

All in all, we had a wonderful trip to the park. I definitely think we will visit their frequently over the summer. There are lots of little kids and it will give Clay some time to socialize.
